Packages and file transfer allowances
|
| |
What happens if I exceed my package limit during a quarter? Don't worry, you will not loose any files. We will inform you by email when/if you reach 75% of your quarterly ‘Transfer Allowance'. You will then have the option of upgrading to a higher quarterly package or to buy a 'Top-up Pack' of additional 'Traffic Allowance' for that quarter. If you choose not to take up either option and subsequently a proposed transfer would take you over your ‘Allowance', we will contact you again. At this point, the file upload by you or your client that has taken you over your limit will still be uploaded in the normal way and saved on the whooosh server ready to be retrieved at the beginning of the following quarter or once your payment of your next quarter's subscription has been cleared. Both you and your client will be kept informed at all times as to the status of your files and you will be given the option to contact us if you wish to any potential delay to urgent transfers. |
| |
What happens if I don’t use all my transfer allowance one quarter, does it carry over to the next month? No. All unused allowances are cleared at the end of each quarter. |
| |
Is there any limit on the number of clients I can nominate? No. You can have as many clients as you wish, anywhere in the world. |
| |
How many people/departments in my company can access/use one whooosh account? As many as you want. For example if you have different departments they can each have unique user names and passwords on your single account. You can set up individual passwords for each individual who is authorised to use the account or they can share one common user name and password. You can set all this up in your user preferences within the Userzone. |
| |
| |
Calculating the cost and size of file transfers
|
| |
How is traffic usage calculated? We log the amount of traffic generated every time a file is downloaded from your account.
For example, sending a 10Mb file incurs 10Mb of ‘traffic usage' when it is retrieved by you or the recipient. If it is downloaded a second time, it will incur a further 10Mb of chargeable ‘traffic usage' on your account.
|
| |
If a client downloads a file several times, will I keep being charged? Yes. See 'How is traffic usage calculated?' above.
In 'my details' you can set your preferrences to auto delete files after a set period of the first download by your client. Alternatively, you can delete files manually in 'my server'. |
| |
Can I send a file to more than one client and if so what will it cost? Yes. Add additional clients to the send pane before sending. Each time the file is downloaded by a client that transfer will be deducted from your remaining allowance.
|
| |
How do I know what each transfer has cost me? You can multiply the relevant equivalent cost per Mb from the subscription packages table by the size of the transfer and this will give you the cost of the transfer based on the optimum usage of your account.
To get an absolute cost at the end of your billing period, divide the cost for the quarter by the total number of Mb's transferred. |
| |
Can I charge my clients for their file transfers? This is entirely at your discretion. |
| |
| |
Personalising your whooosh service and the iFrame option
|
| |
What is the iFrame solution? The iFrame solution is a small piece of code which enables your personalised whooosh web page to be viewed on your own web site. It will integrate seamlessly with whooosh functionality, enabling your clients to send and receive files direct from your web site and without the need to visit the whooosh web site.
An example of a User's Iframe can be seen on the following sites http://www.prismdigital.co.uk. and http://www.creative-direction.com.
The iFrame colours are fully customizable by you for seamless integration with your own web site. If the package you have selected entitles you to use the iFrame solution the code and instructions will be on your 'my details' page in the whooosh Userzone. You do not need to inform us that you are using this solution, as your account will already have been configured by our system. |
| |
Can I include my logo on my whooosh web page? This option is currently under development. |
| |
| |
Payment methods, terms and conditions
|
| |
What happens if I want to terminate my subscription? Email us before your next invoice is due to let us know you intend to close your account and we will terminate the account at the end of the current billing period. |
| |
Why do I have to pay for the service in advance? Payment in advance allows us to keep the service efficient and low cost. |
| |
Can my company open a credit account with whooosh? No. Whooosh operates a strictly payment in advance policy. This helps to keep the service efficient and low cost. |
| |
| |
Operational and other miscellaneous questions
|
| |
What happens if people send me files I don’t want? You will not be charged for the transfer of any files unless you download them. If you persistantly receive unwanted files from a client, you can either restrict that client to receive only or alternatively remove them from your client database. |
| |
Can I use whooosh to distribute files to multiple clients? Yes. Add additional clients to the send pane before sending. |
| |
How do my clients and I find out when there is a file transfer waiting to be downloaded? Each time a sent file arrives at the whooosh server an email is automatically sent to the recipient (you or your client) notifying them that a file is waiting for download. It will give the file name, size and identify the sender. |
| |
Can I open a file transfer to see what is in it before I decide whether or when to retrieve it? No. The contents of a file can only be viewed after download. |
| |
How do I know if/when a client has retrieved a file I have sent them? Once the recipient has started to download a file an automatic email notification is generated and sent to the sender. |
| |
| |
Sending multiple files and folders
|
| |
Can I send any type of file or folder using whooosh? You can send any type of single file over whooosh but you cannot send an uncompressed folder or multiple files. However you can compress a folder with any number of files in it using most proprietary compression applications - such as Stuff-it or WinZip - and then whooosh it. Some of these compressions applications are available free and some come as standard with PC Operating Systems. And remember, by compressing any file/folder, you will be saving on the cost of the download and making it even faster. |
| |
| |
'Clients' questions
|
| |
How long will files remain on the whooosh server? You can set your account to automatically purge (delete) retrieved files after a set period or if you prefer you can set it so that files must be purged (deleted) manually. |
| |
If I have retrieved a file from whooosh can I forward it to other people using whooosh? You will need to send the file in the normal way. Remember, you will not be charged for the upload in any event. |
| |
How do I open a whooosh account? Simple - Go to 'packages>subscription' and click on the package that suits your requirements. This will take you to the payment area. You can pay online using a recognised credit card or download a pro-forma invoiced. If paying by credit card your account will be set up immediately. If paying by cheque, your account will be activated on receipt of cleared funds. |
| |
How do clients send a file using whooosh? When a 'user' adds a new 'client' to their database an email is automatically sent to them notifying them of their account id and password. The email will also include a link to the whoooshdigital.com website. On logging in using their account id and password they will gain access to the area set aside for them in the 'users' secure zone. Once there, they can select a file from their hard drive or network and click upload. The file will be uploaded to the 'user's' secure area. |
| |
Can clients transfer files between one another using whooosh? Yes. However, you will need to decide in each case who is the user and who is the client. |
